Falling in Love

1 Apr 2009

There's something very romantic about hanging décor – from delicate floral filled vases to suspended tea light baubles, there's so many ways to use height and light to create a visual wonderland at your venue. For an opulent contemporary feel, use tall vases with black branches and illuminate them with hanging soft tea lights or florals. Or for a dramatic feature at the bridal table, suspend a floral arrangement from the ceiling to add dimension and colour. Hanging installations also translate through the lens, giving your photographer a dreamy backdrop to work with.

For a wedding ceremony on a lavender farm, Marisa added tree ornaments, silk-draped white chairs, and a wedding aisle paved by rose petals to build on the outdoor romance.

“When you're standing out in the middle of nowhere, it's great to have something to focus on, and create a more intimate space. On the willow trees, we hung tear drop baubles with tea lights, and delicate floral pomanders, which we hung sporadically at different heights.”

A Lavish Affair is also renowned for its dramatic decorations at the reception centre, which include lightbox installations and suspended decorations to produce dramatic reflections around the room.

“Lighting is so important in a room to create romantic ambience. It is also important to make the room soft and pretty, and this can be done with flowers in reflective glassware or on mirror bases. The light combined with these elements creates that flickering effect across the room which is just captivating. And it certainly creates a point of difference.”
